Horse Expo Coming to Seven Down Arenas, Spearfish, SD, May 24 Horse Expo Provides Something For All Horse Lovers
Whether you are a horse owner, or a horse admirer, you will want to mark May 24 on your calendar. The inaugral Black Hills Horse Expo will bring together horse enthusiasts, owners, trainers, and equine health professionals into a full day of nonstop equine-related presentations. The Expo will be held at Seven Down Arenas near Spearfish and is a fundraiser for the Northern Hills CASA program. For those who have never attended an equine expo, it is a horse lover’s delight, and the BH Horse Expo promises to be an equine affair to remember. Horse lovers will expand their horizons about other breeds and training disciplines in a fun-filled atmosphere. The BH Horse Expo will present a continuous three-ring venue so there will always be something of interest to everyone, regardless of riding or training style. Clinicians will give one-hour mini-clinics on a variety of topics including Harness Training, Making a Jumping Horse, Demystifying Dressage, the Basics of Reining, Achieving Collection, Mounted Shooting and many more. Seminar presentations include Equine Massage, Equine Photography, Equine Reproduction and West Nile Virus Updates. In addition to clinics and seminars, the Horse Expo offers a variety of Breed Demos where owners will be coming up with creative ways to represent their breed with live demonstrations in the arenas. Breeds represented in this expo are the Shire, Miniature, Paint, Friesian, Appaloosa, Gypsy Vanner, Holsteiner, Trekehner, Andalusian, Azteca, Quarter Horse, and Foxtrotter. These breeds are also represented on the prestigious Expo Stallion Showcase. For the children, and young at heart, there will be numerous activities including a petting zoo with exotic animals, pony rides and a rodeo clown. A concession booth will provide food and drinks for the entire day. A variety of equine-related vendor and breed association booths will provide additional avenues for learning and shopping for new and exciting products. Local horse clubs will also be manning booths to provide information about their scheduled shows and activities. “This event is still in its infancy, and it has already grown so quickly,” stated Event Coordinator, Linda Torgerson. “Due to space limitations we have been forced to turn away stallions, horses for the breed demos, and anticipate that the vendor booth space will be filled very soon. The response of the equine community, including our wonderful local sponsors, has been overwhelming and we are very excited about the future of this event.” The Black Hills Horse Expo will be held at Seven Down Arenas. Admission tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for ages 8-14. Gates will open at 8:00 and the Opening Ceremony will begin at 8:45 in the indoor arena. If a full day of clinics, seminars, vendors and demonstrations is not enough, what could be more magical than an evening of music and horses? You are invited to share in the excitement of magnificent horses, combined with talented riders and handlers, polished show tack and costumes, all choreographed and set to music. horses for sale
